Mexico: Moneterry – 21 Nov 07

by Metal Detectors For Sale

Moneterry, Mexico’s third-largest city, is a burgeoning business dynamo, home to many of the countries biggest corporations and wealthiest families. Just two years ago a Latin American business journal called Monterrey the “safest city” in Latin America. But since then things have changed radically– for the worse. Narcotics trafficing gangs have moved in and violence and assinations have spiked. Al Jazeera’s senior Washington correspondent Rob Reynolds reports from a city convulsed by violence and steeped in fear.

sk8rpimpfrisco July 30, 2010 at 11:31 am

Al Jazeera misspelled Monterrey.

sugarpuddin88 July 30, 2010 at 11:35 am

Not a feudal system for Mexico proper – But rather for those areas along the boarder

Those areas along the boarder are a no-mans land

mmarriioo makes a great comment – Yes the US drug demand is one part of a bigger problem

JadeTsukasa July 30, 2010 at 12:29 pm

It seems like that sadly….

jesamani75 July 30, 2010 at 1:04 pm

we go thru the same shit, day by day, here in tijuana, and the inept and corrupt politicians do not give a shit about our security…

mmaarriioo999 July 30, 2010 at 1:28 pm

I live in Monterrey, and don’t think that we need a feudal system. We have a problem because your country is the principal buyer of drugs of the entire world and you sell us the guns. You have to check your boarder not only to go in.
This documental is partial and doesn’t reflect the reality. I’m midclass and I don’t have fear to the insecurity in my BMW or walking in the street at anytime nor anywhere.

themightylex July 30, 2010 at 1:44 pm

I don’t anyone in Mexico City believes that Mexico needs a Feudal system. I don’t even believe that. Not if it’s going to share a border with a first-world country.

This is a very informative story. Surely a great change of pace from CNN and their coverage of Brittany and Lindsay.
Now why is Al Jazeera English not on cable, yet we have the comedy network (not the real one) but foxnews blaring nonsense non-stop.

This is because the fight against Drug lords. Mexican goverment has jailed several drug lords, so.. low profile drug smugglers are fighting each other for the market.

elreydelasierra2003 July 30, 2010 at 3:02 pm

dont we all just love corruption.

sugarpuddin88 July 30, 2010 at 3:07 pm

Now even the Army has troubles on the Tx Mx boarder

A dire situation that ruined the boarder 5 years ago when the DEA took out a major drug lord — The power vacuum lead to the absolute ruin of cities all along the boarder

And now the violence has spread further south to the City of Monterrey

sugarpuddin88 July 30, 2010 at 3:53 pm

The very reason the violence is there is due to mingling by the US DEA

By taking out competing drug lords 5 years ago, the entire area up to the TX – MX boarder is a ruin

The USA naively thinks it can impose its same sort of government in a society that requires a feudal system — Just like in the Middle East

themightylex July 30, 2010 at 4:47 pm

Why are we wasting lives in the Middle East, instead of helping our neighbors to the south?

hajqbvii July 30, 2010 at 5:24 pm

One of the reasons for illegal immigration to USA.

msgg81 July 30, 2010 at 5:33 pm

how can it be so uncontrollable

government questionable
